Sony Pictures Core Is A New Streaming App For PlayStation Consoles And It’s Out Now

Core, blimey!

Sony has just announced that it’s rebranding its previously Bravia TV-exclusive movie streaming app, Bravia Core, to be called Sony Pictures Core, and for the first time making it available on PS5 and PS4 consoles.

The new app will let PlayStation owners buy or rent up to 2,000 movies from their console. At launch, it’ll include films such as Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Uncharted, The Equalizer, No Hard Feelings, Bullet Train, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and a heap more.

Through the Sony Pictures Core app, users will also be able to access a number of future releases ahead of other streaming apps. In some regions, that’s made the new Gran Turismo film available to watch early – although here in Australia we can already check it out on other streaming services.

Purchasing the Gran Turismo film through Sony Pictures Core will also grant players credit towards an in-game purchase in Gran Turismo 7, including cars featured in the movie, opening the door for more movie/game content tie-ins in the future. The film is also IMAX Enhanced on the Sony Pictures Core app, giving viewers on PS5 and PS4 a top-notch living room watching experience.

Better yet, if you’re a PlayStation Plus Deluxe member, you’ll get access to a dedicated catalogue of up to 100 movies to stream from the Sony Pictures library as part of your membership. The PlayStation Plus movie catalogue will feature movies such as Looper, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Elysium, and Resident Evil Damnation. Sony says there will also be additional benefits for all PlayStation Plus members, but details on those are coming later. With Crunchyroll under its umbrella, Sony plans to bring anime content to the fold in the future as well.

Keen movie fans can get downloading the Sony Pictures Core app on their PS5 or PS4 console right now. Head here for more info.
