PlayStation has dropped another one of its live-action promo videos to get folks in the mood for a holiday of gaming, and once again it’s wall-to-wall references to iconic first and third party franchises from God of War, Marvel’s Spider-Man and The Last of Us to Final Fantasy VII and XVI and Destiny.
The new video comes as PlayStation is gearing up to launch its new “slim” PS5 models, which have already begun appearing in the wild and in teardown videos on YouTube showing off their smaller footprint and detachable disc drives.
In a blog post accompanying the new promo, PlayStation’s Senior VP of Brand, Product and Services Marketing Andrea Perez wrote, “Next week marks the third year since PS5 launched and we wanted to take this opportunity to thank the more than 40 million players who’ve joined our global PS5 community. In these first three years, PlayStation Studios and third-party developers have introduced more than 2,500 PS5 games for players to enjoy, including fan-favourite titles in recent months like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Final Fantasy XVI.”
