PlayStation has dropped a new system update for PS5, bringing it up to version 24.05-09.60.00 and adding in just a couple of new features.
The headline feature in the update is the ability to invite players to open game sessions using a QR code/link, meaning the invite can be shared through social media, messaging apps and so on via a mobile device. It’s a feature that PlayStation had previously promised, and should make finding or sharing online games with people you don’t regularly play with or have as friends on PSN a lot easier.
The second notable addition is the ability to use a voice command to open up Game Help action cards, though all voice command functionality on PS5 is still limited to English-speaking players in the US and UK.
The update naturally also comes with some of the usual “performance and stability” improvements, updates to some DualSense wireless controllers for additional stability and some minor UI/messaging changes.

- You can invite other players to game sessions by sharing a URL to the session.
- To invite other players, open the game session action card and select Share Link. Then, scan the QR code with your mobile device to share the link.
- This feature is available only for open sessions that anyone can join.
- This feature will gradually be rolled out to all players by July 24.
- Voice Command now supports the ability to open Game Help action cards by saying “Show Game Help”.
- Currently, Voice Command (Preview) is available only in English for players with accounts for PlayStation Network in the US and UK.
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
- We’ve updated the device software of some DualSense wireless controllers to improve stability.
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
