PlaySTation Beta Program

The PlayStation Beta Program Will Provide Early Access To PS5 Games/Features And Aussies Can Join

Love it!

PlayStation this morning announced the PlayStation beta program, which seems to expand on the PS5/PS4 beta updates that had been rolling out over the last handful of years. Whilst these were never available to Australia, the good news is that the beta program is available for Australians to register for.

It’ll be interesting to see how this evolves over time and how widespread this is in terms of testing new games and features. Previously, testing was done for console updates before they went live (without changes), but it seems that this is going to be used for actually playtesting things a lot earlier in the development cycle which is an exciting prospect.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE PLAYSTATION BETA PROGRAM

You can register right HERE. You will need to sign up with your PlayStation Network account and answer a handful of questions about what type of games that you like, your age, where you game and a few other little questions.

WHAT IS THE PLAYSTATION BETA PROGRAM

PlayStation has said that this will allow people to playtest games on your PS5 and PC testing games at the concept stage, and all through development and then also helping test games on PC as well.

It will also provide early access to new PS5 console features, helping test the PlayStation app with new features and also testing new features on the PlayStation website, all with the goal of testing before release and also providing feedback before its rolled out to a wider audience.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER REGISTERING FOR THE PLAYSTATION BETA PROGRAM

PlayStation sends an email outlining what to expect and it references the below:

  • Email invitations to upcoming betas, feature tests and platform updates.
  • Instructions on how to access these new features and games.
  • Guidelines for how to provide feedback with each update.
