The Overwatch Ban Hammer Is Starting To Be Swung

It appears that Blizzard have begun banning players who are using Overwatch hacks on PC. The first email has gone out signalling a ban for a player who had “cheated by using a hack that wasn’t approved by Blizzard”.

It has been a major issue on PC since the game launched, with players using all kind of aim-bots and making the game un-enjoyable for all involved.

Blizzard aren’t letting the cheaters off lightly, issuing account closures of their Battle.net & Overwatch accounts.

Blizzard came out prior to the game launching and warned players that they’d be coming down extremely hard on those that were found to be cheating. As Overwatch is a team-based game, one cheater can really ruin the experience for everyone.

“If a player is found to be cheating — ??or using hacks, bots, or third-party software that provides any sort of unfair advantage — ??that player will be permanently banned from the game. Full stop,” the company said. “Not only does cheating undermine the spirit of fair play that all of our products are based on, but it works to diminish the fun and enjoyment of others. While we are unlikely to publicly acknowledge when accounts are closed as a result of cheating or using unauthorized programs, we have and will continue to monitor Overwatch for exploitative behavior, as well as take action as needed to preserve the integrity of game.”
