In a post on Kotaku, it’s been reported that The Classification Board, following a review, has overturned their original ruling for We Happy Few. In place of its refused classification is now an R18+ rating, which means the game can see release in Australia after all.
The board announced through their website this afternoon that it was a three-member panel that “unanimously determined” We Happy Few would receive an R18+ rating, reversing the original ruling that would have seen the game banned from sale here.
The ‘fantasy violence and interactive drug use’ moniker will be applied to the game’s classification rating instead.
So that’s great news for anyone who was upset about the game’s original ban as common sense has prevailed. More to come about the game’s release in future.
