Forza Motorsport’s Release Date May Have Been Quietly Pushed Back

Better to not Forza game out too early, anyway.

Forza fans were excited last week to get a new glimpse at Forza Motorsport, the eighth entry in Turn 10 Studios’ well-respected racing sim series, during the very first Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct showcase.

Cue some slight confusion when the game did appear in a lengthy video showing off some of its incredible visual features, but missing any indication of a release date or even rough window for the game outside of “2023.”

Given that Forza Motorsport was one of the games included in Microsoft’s suite of games pegged to release in the “next 12 months” during its June 2022 showcase, eager racers were understandably hoping to see some firming up of its launch date, but if claims from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb are to believed there’s a chance the game is going to miss that initially promised window altogether.

“What I’m hearing—I’m feeling pretty good about this after asking around a couple of times after hearing about it the first time earlier today—it does seem like Forza is going to slip later into the year and probably won’t be the first half of the year,” Grubb said on the podcast (transcribed by VGC).

“The timeframe I’m hearing for Forza is like Q3, and maybe even a little bit later than that.”

Of course, the delay according to Grubb is still unsubstantiated at this stage but it’ll be interesting to see if Forza Motorsport does slip into the first half of this year as promised or if the team at Turn 10 have found themselves needing extra time to put the last coats of polish on.

When it does release, Forza Motorsport will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Game Pass subscribers getting access on day one.
