Someone’s Already Beaten Starfield In Less Than Three Hours

FTL.

Despite Starfield still not being out “officially” for anyone who didn’t buy into the various physical and digital special editions of the game, speed runners are already having an absolute blast with it and posting some incredible completion times.

One of the best the internet has seen so far is a run from user Micrologist which comes by way of a Discord server dedicated to Starfield speed running (and shared here by VG247), who’s managed to knock the main campaign over in just three short hours. For context, that’s how long it took me to get past the opening missions – although I did spend most of that time methodically pocketing anything that wasn’t nailed down and then slow-walking everywhere because I didn’t want my over-encumbered character to run out of oxygen and die.

Of course, it’s still very early days and the speed running community is likely to find ways to get through the game much faster than this, eventually. Users are apparently already discussing ways to click through in-game barriers with a third-person punching exploit, for example. In a game with the size, scope and possibilities of a Bethesda RPG, and one set in space no less, it’s sure to be an entertaining one to follow.
