Xbox Cloud Gaming will soon be available on LG TVs, allowing you to stream Xbox’s catalogue of games directly to your TV and play them with a connected controller, without needing a console. As made previously available on Samsung TVs and Amazon Fire TV devices, an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required.
The announcement came via the Xbox Wire blog, adding the Xbox app will be coming to “new LG Smart TVs later this year.” That would seem to suggest existing models of LG TVs won’t be supported, but rather LG’s upcoming lineup of 2025 TVs.
The “Gaming Portal” will grant subscribers access to the library of games to stream via the net to their TV and play them via a Bluetooth controller connected to the TV. It eliminates the need for a console to be connected to the TV.
If you’re in the market for a new tele it may well be something to consider. Game Pass continues to be very good value for money, and Xbox recently announced that Game Pass Ultimate members can stream select games they own outside of their own Game Pass catalogue including NBA 2K25 and Hogwarts Legacy.
Remember the same service is already available on Amazon Fire devices and Samsung TVs. This is a continuation of Xbox’s continued strategy to make their game library available on as many devices as possible and move away from being strictly a console manufacturer. They recently, and rightfully, made a big deal of the sheer number of places you can play Xbox games as part of a promotional campaign.
