There’s no signs of slowing down as BF Studios keeps the momentum going off the back of a successful launch with Battlefield 6. Season One will arrive from October 28th 2025 and will bring in a plethora of new content such as new maps, modes, weapons and more. Recently, I went hands-on with Season One content.
The first phase, Rogue Ops is the first add-on for the Battlefield 6 game with the introduction of a new map Blackwell Fields, several new weapons, a new mode called Strikepoint plus more.
The new Blackwell Fields map takes place in the Californian chaparral and it’s a fairly large map featuring the outskirts, oil fields reminiscent of the Californian badlands vibe which is kinda giving me Battlefield Hardline nostalgic hits.
Blackwell Field is a bleak dark sandy map which gives the desert vibes plastered with oil wells. It’s one of the least vibrant maps for the game but it delivers the tone of Californian badlands. It’s relatively large with support for helis and aircraft. While it was a bit of a refreshing addition for new maps, it was my least favourite as it feels too reminiscent of the Middle East maps we are accustomed to in the base game.

During the preview, I tested out the new weapons dropping in Rogue Ops: the SCAR SC. 300, Glock 22 and Mini Fix Bolt Action Rifle – yes another sniper for you campers out there. The new SCAR is a carbine addition giving more flex and variation to short-range combat in this weapon class. Something lacking at launch was sidearms so it’s great to see the Glock 22 being added. It’s not a drastic addition to the game but extra options for sidearms are always welcome.
Out of the three, the Mini Fix Bolt Action Rifle aka “The Fix” felt like my kind of jam. Sniper rifles in the game have been great and the Mini Fix feels like a great addition and all-rounder to the class. It’s pretty good to see new weapons enter the fray early in the live service and all three fit in with the homefront-eques theme this season is going for.

In the preview, we also got hands on the new modes – the first one being Strikepoint. This mode is basically your basic one-life team deathmatch mode. Strikepoint plays on the smallest version of the map where two sides are given one objective. You can win by capturing the point or eliminating the entire team. The first team to win six rounds wins the game.
It’s a slightly competitive mode that probably won’t hit hard with big scale Battlefield fans but those who love a bit of sweaty team based action, it’s another mode to dive into.During the preview, I didn’t get to try the new Sabotage game mode which is a ‘limited time’ mode that won’t permanently stay in the playlist.
Phase 2 will introduce another map, Eastwood and by far my favourite one from the new season. The map is a taste of American luxury suburbia which features tight house to house fighting and a big golf course. Yes, there’s drivable golf carts. While the map was bigger than expected, the combination of infantry CQB fighting with vehicles creates the most intense urban combat experience in BF6 and with the map taking place in a greener California, the visuals of destruction during matches was amazing. Unfortunately, there’s no jets on Eastwood but it’s still definitely one of the better maps I’ve played in Battlefield 6.

The season also introduces a new Battle Pass, giving BF Pro users access to unlockable cosmetics, background cards, and more. The Battle Pass features four distinct progression paths, with a fifth bonus path unlocking once all four have been completed.
Battlefield 6 Season 1 is coming in hot. While the new content may feel sudden, BF Studios is committed to keeping the fight alive with a live-service model drip-feeding players fresh content instead of making them wait. The new maps and modes feel fantastic, and the addition of fresh weapons adds another layer of depth to the game’s ongoing progression. Now it’s time to get back in the fight on the homefront.
Battlefield 6 Season One kicks off with Rogue Ops on October 28th 2025. EA provided early access to preview the new season maps and add-ons.
