Pay Day 3

PAYDAY 3 Is Getting An Open Beta This Weekend So Here’s When And How To Play

Play before you pay(day)

Starbreeze and Deep Silver have announced a new Open Beta for the upcoming co-operative heist sim, PAYDAY 3, giving eager fans who weren’t able to get into the recent Closed Beta a chance to try the game ahead of its September 21st launch. The primary goal of this round of testing, which the studio is calling a “Technical Open Beta” is to try and break the servers, so the more players who join in the better (or worse, which is the point).

So if you’re keen to give PAYDAY 3 a go this weekend, here’s everything you need to know about how and when to get playing:

When Can I Play The PAYDAY 3 Open Beta In Australian Times?

PAYDAY 3’s open beta will be available to play on Xbox and PC from Saturday, September 9th at 12AM AEST until Monday, September 11th at 6PM AEST. Here’s how that shakes out in other local timezones:

Which Platforms Is The PAYDAY 3 Open Beta Available On?

The PAYDAY 3 Open Beta will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC only.

How Do I Download The PAYDAY 3 Open Beta?

Being a “Technical Open Beta” it’s not going to be as simple as downloading a beta client for the game from the Xbox or PC stores, so here are the steps to follow once it goes live:

  • If you’re on PC, you can head to the PAYDAY 3 Store Page and click on “Request Access” near the top of the page.
  • If you’re on Xbox, you can download the Xbox Insider Hub app, navigate to previews and select PAYDAY 3.

What Content Is Available In The PAYDAY 3 Open Beta?

The open beta will be a slice of the full game containing only 1 heist and 4 heisters. Most, but not all, weaponry and cosmetics are included. There’s also a level cap of infamy level 22, meaning that not all skill points will be available during the beta.

We recently had the chance to try the game for ourselves, and came away excited to play more, saying “… I’ve come away from my time with PAYDAY 3 sure of the fact that it will please series veterans. While it plays it relatively safe in terms of improving on a tried formula, it adds some new wrinkles that further flesh out options within heists and their numerous phases. The SURPHAZE Art Gallery is also a promising look into the types of locations we can expect in PAYDAY 3’s heists, and I have no doubt that challenging difficulty modifiers will bring a lot of replay value to the table when the game launches.”

PAYDAY 3 releases on September 21st for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Amazon has the cheapest shipped pre-order at $54 including delivery.
