One Of Australia’s Largest Fighting Game Tournaments Is On This Weekend

The Southern Cross Championship (SXC2K16), one of Australia’s largest video game fighting tournaments and events, is on this weekend at the University of Adelaide.

Returning for a fourth year, SXC2K16 will be featuring tournaments for Street Fighter V, The King of Fighters XIV, Guilty Gear Xrd – Revelator, Super Smash Bros Melee and for Wii U, Mortal Kombat XL, BlazBlue Central Fiction and much more.

The huge event is being held over two floors, in the Rumours Cafe and Adelaide UniBar, at the University of Adelaide.

Super Smash Bros Wii U will be one of the main tournaments at SXC2K16, with a prize pot of $1000.

Not only will there be some of the best from the Australian fighting game community there to show off their skills, but a number of sponsors have jumped on board, meaning there are some big pots up for grabs too.

Some of the sponsors include the publisher behind the Street Fighter series Capcom, tech company MSI and Adelaide’s very own AVCon. Who’s contributions mean there are $1000 prize pots for a majority of the tournaments!

Running from the 2nd to the 4th of December, SXC has grown out of the South Australian Fighting Game Community to become the biggest fighting game event in South Australia, and a prominent event on the Australian fighting game community calendar.

The creators of the Street Fighter series Capcom are one of the main sponsors for the event.
