Press Start’s GOTY 2017 – #5 Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

Ewan said: “Wolfenstein reminded me how enjoyable first-person shooters can be. It’s kooky cast of characters, it’s zany, alternate reality world and outlandish set pieces make its meaty singleplayer narrative an absolute blast to play through. Thank you Machine Games and Bethesda for caring about games like this!”

Toby said: “The New Colossus is bold, it’s beautiful, and it’s utterly brilliant. MachineGames’ second crack at the Wolfenstein IP takes risks and, for the most part, nails almost everything it tries. From the bizarre, whacky story to the incredible sound design, Wolfenstein II is everything I wanted it to be, and then some. I can’t wait to see where the developers go next with the series.”

James called the game a story worth telling in his review and gave it a 9. He said: “Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus has a better idea of what it wants to be when compared to The New Order, and feels like a slightly better game because of it. The action is solid, the set pieces are memorable, and the visuals are a delight. And yet, the stand out here is the story and writing. The New Colossus humanises B.J. Blazkowicz and his comrades in a way I’d never expect and is easily a game worth playing because of it. An amazing, unique shooter that does its own thing without compromise.”
