Press Start’s GOTY 2017 – #7 Uncharted: The Lost Legacy

Uncharted has probably been PlayStation’s most successful new franchise of the last 10 years. Uncharted 4 sold millions of copies and it was unclear just how Naughty Dog would top it. Along game The Lost Legacy featuring two prominent female figures and managed to take Uncharted to the next level.

Josh said: “Taking the best elements of the Uncharted series, slimming the scale of the story down to a personal story of reconnecting with ones history while also iterating on the already fantastic gameplay results in arguably the best Uncharted outing yet. Chloe and Nadine are given enough depth and interplay to showcase fantastic voice work and writing. One of the most incredible looking games of this generation that leverages HDR and dynamic 4K second only to Horizon Zero Dawn, a must have for any PS4 owners, especially at its budget price.”

Camilla said: “In truth, this one came as a huge surprise to me. I did not expect to enjoy this game as much as I did and initially approached it as an inferior spin-off of a phenomenal series. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Lost Legacy is now my favourite of the Uncharted titles, I enjoyed the narrative, the puzzles and the environments as I have done in previous instalments but it was the protagonists that really made this one special in my opinion. The dynamics between Chloe and Nadine were so incredibly charming, from their cheeky banter to their heartfelt moments and crushing conflicts, I found myself sincerely invested in the development of their relationship.”

Shannon called the game a great stand alone adventure in his review and gave it a 9. He said: “Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a great standalone adventure featuring two extremely charismatic personalities. There’s a story here that’s brilliantly told with intertwined gameplay/narrative design that I’ve not seen in a game in some time. The intriguing relationship of Chloe/Nadine made playing through the game more than worth it, and some questionable new gameplay mechanics couldn’t detract from an otherwise brilliant experience”
