After a pretty rock-solid year that saw the release of the long-anticipated Nintendo Switch successor, and its incredible launch window slate, including the likes of Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, Nintendo seems set up to do exactly what they’ve done for the last generation, and that’s keep the industry on notice.
After managing to sell through over 10 million consoles in its first two quarters, Nintendo is uniquely placed to introduce a large number of its enormous IP catalogue to the new machine, all the while nickel-and-diming gamers with its particular brand of re-releases.
With Pokémon celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, Nintendo has paid special focus to the sales juggernaut, with a likely few releases dropping within the year, at least. While the infamous pocket monsters appeal to Nintendo’s younger demographic, Nintendo has also made big strides to ensure the mature gamer can find a welcoming home on their systems, thanks to exclusivity partnerships with the likes of FromSoftware for their next release.
