All The Unlockable Costumes And Accessories In Resident Evil 4

Leon and Ashley Looking Stylish As Ever.

Resident Evil has always had a slew of costumes unlockable for its cast and Resident Evil 4 is no different. While a lot of the costumes this time around are made entirely new for this remake and only available in the Deluxe and Collector’s editions, there are a few that you can unlock in the main game too with no extra purchases necessary.

These costumes are all purchaseable after the game has been completed once, and can be purchased using points earned through achieving various things in the game. It’s essentially the same system as what was in RE2, RE3 and Village previously.

Below are all the costumes you can unlock in Resident Evil 4, and how to unlock them.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR LEON – JACKET

Resident Evil 4 Costume Leon Jacket

Unlockable after finishing the Main Story for 500CP in the Extra Content Shop. This costume is a bit of a cheap trick from Capcom. At the end of the first chapter, Leon loses his jacket and plays the rest of the game without it. Now, with the marvels of unlocking, Leon can play the whole game in his signature bomber jacket instead. Groundbreaking.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR LEON – JACKETLESS

Resident Evil 4 Costume Leon Jacketless

Unlockable after finishing the Main Story for 500CP in the Extra Content Shop. This costume is, once again, a bit of a cheap one. It basically allows you to start the game without Leon’s jacket. So you get to play through the entirety of the first chapter looking like Leon does for the rest of the game. Similarly groundbreaking.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR LEON – PINSTRIPE

Resident Evil 4 Costume Leon Pinstripe

Unlockable by completing the game and buying from the store for 2000CP. Now we’re talking! This costume was initially available to Leon after completing the separate Ada Wong campaign, Separate Ways. Equipping this costume also changes the appearance of the secret unlockable Chicago Sweeper weapon to look more like a mafia-esque tommy gun and unlocks special reload animations for two of the game’s secret unlockable weapons.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR ASHLEY – JACKET

Resident Evil 4 Costume Ashley Jacket

Unlockable after finishing the Main Story for 500CP in the Extra Content Shop. Unfortunately, Ashley got the short end of the stick when it comes to costumes. Her original look is her first unlockable costume – as she loses the blazer in the final chapter of the game. Now, by selecting this costume, Ashley remains in her jacket/blazer for the entirety of the game. Continually groundbreaking stuff from Capcom.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR ASHLEY – JACKETLESS

Resident Evil 4 Costume Ashley Jacketless

Unlockable after finishing the Main Story for 500CP in the Extra Content Shop. I can see the appeal here. This removes Ashley’s jacket to reveal a costume that’s very similar to her appearance in the original game. Rather than wait until the final chapters for her to achieve this look, activating this option means that Ashley will look similar to her original RE4 look for the entirety of the game.

EXTRA COSTUME FOR ASHLEY – ARMOUR

Resident Evil 4 Costume Ashley Armour Armor

You can unlock this costume after finishing the main story on Hardcore mode with at least an A ranking for 2000CP in the Extra Content Shop. Once again, this costume was previously unlocked for Ashley by completing Separate Ways. When Ashley wears it, she’s invulnerable to all attacks from enemies. Similarly, if any enemies attempt to pick her up, they’ll simple fall over under the weight of the armour. It also makes her invulnerable during her playable segment in the castle. I don’t have to say how much of an advantage this is for players, especially during the dreaded water room.

EXTRA COSTUMES FOR LEON AND ASHLEY – INCLUDED IN THE DELUXE AND COLLECTOR’S EDITIONS

Resident Evil 4 Costume Ashley Leon Deluxe Collector's Edition

These costumes are offered with the special editions of the game. They’re much cooler than the ones included in the game from the start, but I guess that’s the point.

EXTRA ACCESSORIES FOR LEON AND ASHLEY – PURCHASABLE FROM THE IN-GAME SHOP

Resident Evil 4 Costume Accessories

While there’s not a lot of costumes in the game this time around, there are a whole bunch of accessories to unlock that can be equipped to Leon. There’s a lot to buy here, but I’ve purposefully left the wilder ones out of the image for the sake of a surprise. Some of these items even have perks that give Leon special abilities.

WHO FOR? CP COST SPECIAL PERKS
Glasses (Lexington) Leon 1000
Glasses (Square) Leon 1000
Glasses (Round) Leon 1000
Sunglasses (Frameless) Leon 1000
Sunglasses (Round) Leon 1000
Face Guard Leon 1000
Iron Helmet Leon 1000
Flight Helmet Leon 1000
Skull Mask Leon 1000
Foam (Face) Mask Leon 1000
Surgical Mask Leon 1000
Eye Patch Leon 1000
Flight Cap Leon 1000
Knitted Hat (Beanie) Leon 1000
Gas Mask Leon 2000 Enables aim assist for all difficulties
Wolf Tail Leon 2000 Greatly increases power of melee attacks
Deer Antlers Leon 2000 Greatly increases power of knife attacks
Chicken Hat Leon 2000 Greatly decreases the damage you receive
Cat Ears Leon 2000 Too powerful to confine to a mere table
Sunglasses (Cat Eye) Ashley 1000

And that’s it! Not as much love as I’d like to have seen on the costume front – especially given that Leon’s classic RPD outfit is missing here, rather bizarrely. Ashley’s Pop Star outfit is also missing, though I’m not quite upset about that, given how cheesy it was.

Resident Evil 4 is now available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. Amazon has the cheapest price at $84.99 with free shipping.

We gave the game an incredible 10/10 in our review, saying “Resident Evil 4 translates a game already revered into an absolute masterpiece. The tension is heightened and the combat is stronger than ever, all while still maintaining the corny dialogue and humour that the original game was known for. While there are a few minor aspects missing, Resident Evil 4 is a strong example of what any remake should be and is well worth your time.”
