CD Projekt Red’s Servers Were Apparently Hacked With The Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 Source Code Stolen

CD Projekt Red posted an important update on Twitter earlier this evening, and for the first time in a long time, it had nothing to do with Cyberpunk 2077.

The company has posted a statement that suggests that they have been victim of a targeted cyber attack in which their internal systems were compromised. The discovery was made due to the fact that the hacker left a note on their servers that reads:

“Your have been EPICALLY pwned!!

We have duped FULL copies of the source codes from your Perforce server for Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Gwent and the unrelease version of Witcher 3!!!.

If we will not come to an agreement, then your source code will be sold or leaked online and your documents will be sent to our contacts in gaming journalism. Your public image will go down the shitter even more and people will see how you shitty company functions.

You have 48 hours to contact us”.

Despite the fact that these hackers might very well have source codes for CD Projekt Red’s games, as well as other internal documents, CD Projekt Red has said that it will not comply with the ransom.

It’s going to be an interesting few days to see if anything eventuates from this. Obviously, it’s hard to tell at this stage if it’s anything other than an elaborate prank, but obviously this kind of thing can’t be condoned.
