Even More Addictive DIY Is Coming In Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ Huge Paid Expansion

In a special Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct presentation, Nintendo has revealed what fans can expect from the game’s final free update, as well as announced a huge, paid expansion for the game titled Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise.

The new DLC will see players join the ‘Paradise Planning Team’, working alongside Lottie to build vacation homes for a series of clients. Players will get to design these homes across a series of island, placing pre-designated furniture and remodelling interiors and yards to fit the clients’ specifications.

As your skills as a designer deepen, you’ll be able to rework previous vacation homes and even matchmake clients into sharing joint vacation homes. You’ll also be able to rebuild and design various facilities on the Paradise Planning Team’s base island such as a school, restaurant and cafe.

Players will also be able to take photos of their vacation home projections, and see and share their designs with other users online. Eventually, players will be able to take their skills back to their main islands too, renovating their own homes and potentially even those of their island’s residents.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise DLC will cost AU $37.50 / NZ $41.25 when it launches on November 5th, 2021, and will also be included as part of the new Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. More on that here.

Also on November 5th, 2021, Nintendo is releasing a substantial free update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons – the very last free update, in fact.

This update will bring with it a raft of new features alongside some welcome tweaks, with things like increased home storage and better management of residents and weed growth rates.

In the update, Brewster will set up his café, The Roost, in the museum so that players can relax and enjoy a cup of coffee. Alternatively, they can take a boat tour with Kapp’n to visit remote island with different seasons and times of day as well as other new surprises. Gyroids are also making a return and can be unearthed on your island!

You’ll also be able to support Harv’s new endeavour, an open market on his island, by contributing bells to help some familiar animals set up shop. This way, you’ll get access to exclusive furniture customisations as well as new hair styles. Lastly, DIY recipes are being expanded with cooking recipes so players can grow fruits and vegetables on their island to craft delicious dishes for display!
