Capcom Is Teasing Something With A Mysterious Countdown

Capcom has taken to Twitter this afternoon to post a link to a countdown page on their website. The countdown is rather vague, as you can see below:

Keen super sleuths have already attempted to trawl the source code for the site to find any clues about what the announcement could be – but to no avail.

While recent reports hinted that a reveal of the supposed Resident Evil 4 remake could be coming soon, others believe that the timer could be counting down to a reveal of the next Street Fighter game.

Fans believe so because if you align the time that this timer ends, it coincides with the end of the Capcom Cup, which Capcom has historically used to announce new fighters or new projects.

It’s been almost six years since the fifth Street Fighter game was released, and Street Fighter 6 was allegedly moved from a 2021 release according to a report from August 2020 following development issues and the departure of key staff.

Despite this, a new Street Fighter could be exciting. Capcom has a lot to prove and we know that’s when they’re at their best as a publisher – both Mortal Kombat and Tekken’s latest instalments have outsold the classic fighting franchise’s latest instalment.

Still, Capcom also recently updated its sales rankings to proclaim it their 9th best-selling game ever, shifting just over six million units.

If you’re keen to discover just what Capcom is teasing, the announcement seems to be counting down to Monday, February 21st at 5:00pm (AEDT).

We’ll have more for you when it breaks.
