VicScreen has announced that it’s launching a brand-new, pre-eminent games market this October to connect local developers with major platform holders, publishers, investors and other Aussie studios to secure funding and support with no fee required to take part.
The inaugural Play Now Melbourne is happening on October 5th, 2023 with applications open now for developers hoping to make pitch their projects and build crucial relationships with partners who can help them bring those projects and their passions to fruition.
Further bolstering Victoria’s already-stellar reputation as melting pot of indie development talent and government support, Play Now is a trade event aimed at giving local talent the kinds of business and networking opportunities seen at events like GDC and Gamescom, and already on-board are global brands like Kepler Interactive and Meta.
Interested developers will need to apply here, with VicScreen looking for applicants that can demonstrate the following:
- Pitch materials or a playable build to present at Play Now Melbourne on 5 October 2023.
- The team’s experience and/or capability to deliver the project.
- The market potential of your game and how attending Play Now Melbourne will benefit your team, business and the wider Australian games sector.
To be considered, developers must be an Australian individual or company, own the rights to their projects, have materials to pitch and a team capable of delivering the project and be able to attend Melbourne International Games Week (MIGW) and Play Now Melbourne on October 5th.
