Alan Wake 2 Is Going To Have “Significant” Free Content Updates After Launch

Dreamy.

Alan Wake II will have “significant” and free content updates after launch, in addition to its already-planned paid DLC, according to Remedy Entertainment creative director, Sam Lake, who spoke about the game at EGX 2023 in London over the weekend.

As seen in the below footage shared by X user @TheVoidRetro, Lake told an EGX London audience, “We do have free DLC drops coming, and they too are pretty significant. I’m expecting us to be going more into detail pretty soon after the game is out, but all of that will be free for everyone who gets the game.”

While Lake stopped short of offering any more detail than this, it’s exciting to know that the studio is preparing to offer up substantial post-launch content for the game at no added cost, and it’ll be interesting to see what oddities it has cooking for a title that’s already looking pretty bloody weird.

Remedy recently revised its release date for the game, pushing it back by a short 10 days, saying: “An update from the Alan Wake 2 team: we’re moving Alan Wake 2’s launch from October 17th to October 27th.

“October is an amazing month for game launches and we hope this date shift gives more space for everyone to enjoy their favorite games. We can’t wait to show you what everyone’s favorite novelist is up to in the Dark Place next week. Thanks for your patience!”

We got the chance to see an in-depth, behind closed doors look at Alan Wake II ourselves with the team at Remedy at this year’s Summer Game Fest and came away suitably impressed and ready for more, you can read about that right here.

Alan Wake II is set to launch as a digital-only title on October 27th for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
