LEGO Fortnite Has Been Announced And It’s Coming This Week

Bricked up.

LEGO Fortnite has been announced as a brand new survival crafting game launching inside Fortnite, and it’s coming very soon on December 7th.

While details on what exactly the game will involve are still relatively thin on the ground, it comes nearly two years after Epic and The LEGO Group announced a partnership to encourage safe play, with the pair saying, “Within LEGO Fortnite, players can explore vast, open worlds where the magic of LEGO building and Fortnite collide. Designed for people of all ages to enjoy together, the game will encourage creativity, experimentation and collaboration through play.”

Fortnite is also LEGO-fying an unbelievable number of outfits in the game, revealing over 1,200 skins have been given the minifigure treatment to be used in any compatible games or modes within Fortnite, at no extra cost to players.

The two companies said their new venture will create a family-friendly digital experience that empowers kids to become confident creators and enjoy play opportunities in a safe and positive space. To that end they had agreed to three core principles in this endeavour, which are to:

  • Protect children’s right to play by making safety and wellbeing a priority.
  • Safeguard children’s privacy by putting their best interests first.
  • Empower children and adults with tools that give them control over their digital experience.

In the statement published online Epic Games CEO and Founder, Tim Sweeney said, “The LEGO Group has captivated the imagination of children and adults through creative play for nearly a century, and we are excited to come together to build a space in the metaverse that’s fun, entertaining, and made for kids and families.”
