The First Fallout TV Show Trailer Is Here And It Looks Fantastic

Can't wait!

After numerous teases, Prime Video has finally dropped the first trailer for its upcoming Fallout series, and it’s a lengthy two-and-a-half minutes of goodness that paints a very promising picture of the treatment that the franchise is getting with this show.

Set in Los Angeles a whole 200 years after a nuclear apocalypse, Fallout will follow Lucy (Ella Purnell) as she steps out of Vault 33 into the unknown. The trailer gives us glimpses of life on the outside with plenty of new faces, Radroaches, power armour and… Dogmeat?? Maybe not, but there’s no denying they chose a German Shepherd on purpose, here.

“Based on one of the greatest video games of all time,” reads the official summary on the show’s Prime Video page which you can see here. “Fallout is the story of haves and have-nots in a world in which there’s almost nothing left to have. 200 years after the apocalypse, the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the incredibly complex, gleefully weird and highly violent universe waiting for them above.”

“I did not want to do an interpretation of an existing story we did,” Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently said of the series, which is being led by Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan (Westworld). “That was the other thing—a lot of pitches were, you know, ‘This is the movie of Fallout 3…’ I was like, ‘Yeah, we told that story.’ I don’t have a lot of interest seeing those translated. I was interested in someone telling a unique Fallout story. Treat it like a game. It gives the creators of the series their own playground to play in.”

Fallout premieres on April 12th, 2024 exclusively on Prime Video. You can find out more about Amazon Prime subscriptions and a free trial here.
