Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth Has Sold Over 1 Million Copies In Its First Week

Infinite Wealth, indeed.

SEGA and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio have revealed that Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the eighth mainline entry in the long-running Like a Dragon/Yakuza series, has managed to rack up over one million copies sold worldwide in just its first week on sale.

That number is especially impressive when you consider it’s already more than half of the 1.8 million lifetime units sold (as of December 2023) of the previous mainline game, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which launched four years earlier in January 2020.

To celebrate the achievement, a special Celebratory T-Shirt Set will be made available in-game soon, featuring a number of striking designs for players to don.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth continues the turn-based RPG flavour of gameplay from Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and brings back both Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu as dual protagonists in a journey that spans Japan and Hawaii.

We gave the game a massive 9/10 in our review, saying “Infinite Wealth is a stellar follow-up to Yakuza: Like a Dragon in just about every way. It’s bigger, bolder and with some smart tweaks to combat it’s a significantly better turn-based RPG. Series fans have a ton to look forward to in the larger-than-life story and emotional character moments, and though there are some glaring issues with its dungeons and post-game offerings, the end result is the franchise’s best entry yet.”

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is available now. Amazon has the game for $99 including free shipping.
