Wolfeye Studios, the independent studio responsible for 2022’s award-nominated Weird West and led by founder of Arkane and co-creator of games like Dishonored and Prey, Raphael Colantonio, announced back in March that it was working on a brand new “retro sci-fi first-person action RPG.”
Now, as promised, it’s finally revealed a first small, tease of the game along with a progress update. While it doesn’t yet have a title, the game has reportedly just exited pre-production and is now moving into full production, with the studio already looking to get a community of players in early with a limited, private alpha to help shape its development.
Co-founded by industry veterans Colantonio and another ex-Arkane executive, Julien Roby, and with plenty of other former Arkane, Wolfeye is clearly looking to cash in on some of that “immersive sim” expertise, promising that this new game and IP is built on the DNA of those beloved games, which should be music to the ears of everyone still lamenting the loss of Arkane Austin.
There’s still not a lot of other info, but the team has provided some early screenshots which you can see below, highlighting the dusty, retrofuturistic feel that I’m sure is speaking to exactly the right audience:
“We are so happy to be able to officially confirm that our next game is actively in production and that it is a first-person action RPG,” explained Colantonio writes in a press release. “Fans of the past games I have been involved with such as Dishonored and Prey will feel at home, as well as fans of RPGs in general. While we look for the right publishing partner, our sights are firmly set on getting our community involved with the game’s development with a limited private Alpha in 2025. We can not wait for fans to see what we are working on.”
Fans that want a shot at entry into the limited private Alpha are encouraged to sign up to the interest list at www.wolfeye-studios.com/signup and to follow the team on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
