According to an exclusive report from IGN, developer Boss Team Games (creators of 2022’s asymmetric multiplayer horror title, Evil Dead: The Game), is now working on not one, but two new projects based on the classic 70s horror film, Halloween.
Aside from an early tease, there really isn’t a lot of info to go off with these two new games, though the report suggests that both of the games are being developed in close contact with the producers of the franchise and that one of them, which is being built using Unreal Engine 5, has heavy input and “intimate” involvement from the director of the original Halloween film, John Carpenter.
“As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly,” Carpenter is quoted as saying along with the announcement.
The games will reportedly allow players to “relive moments from the film and play as classic characters from one of the most iconic and important horror films of all time,” and a teaser poster has already been revealed that certainly speaks to the classics, though it’s still too early to tell if Boss Team will leverage its experience from Evil Dead to launch another multiplayer title alongside something more single-player horror, or some other combination of ideas.

We gave Evil Dead: The Game a healthy 7/10 in our review in 2022, with James saying, “Evil Dead: The Game pays excellent tribute to most of the Evil Dead canon with great gusto. It looks fantastic, plays smoothly, and has a robust set of multiplayer options, that means the foundation is there for a game with great longevity. It remains to be seen whether Saber will support the game with more content, which will need a refresh in the future. But if they do, Evil Dead: The Game is poised to be one of the better horror adaptations and easily one of my favourites.”
