Splatoon 3

Splatoon 3 Had Japan’s Biggest Ever Gaming Launch

This is huge

This is unexpected. It’s no secret that Splatoon is a big deal in Japan, but Nintendo has announced that Splatoon 3 has sold 3.45 million units in Japan in its first three days on sale.

This puts it ahead of the likes of Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokemon Legends: Arceus and not only are those huge feats in itself, but it is also the biggest ever launch in Japan for any game on any system, which is absolutely insane.

We gave the game an 8.5/10 in our review and said: “While more iterative than it is innovative, Splatoon 3 is without a doubt the best entry in the series yet. Despite lacking new multiplayer modes at launch, there’s a clear commitment to content and quality, with each aspect of the package being pushed to its logical extreme through smart and meaningful additions. This is the most feature-complete and tightly designed Splatoon to date, and you’d be missing out if you choose to pass it up.”

Splatoon 3 is out now on Nintendo Switch. The cheapest copy is $68 with free shipping from Amazon.
