We’ve all been questioning how Nintendo will handle OG Nintendo Switch games on the Nintendo Switch 2, and whilst it was confirmed that original games will be cross-compatible, we now seemingly have confirmation that there will be Nintendo Switch 2 versions of original Nintendo Switch games.
Listed on the Virtual Game Cards website, the text in the footnote says: “Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games and Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games can only be loaded on a Nintendo Switch 2 system.”
What this actually means in terms of upgrades and if they will be free or cost money, we’ll find out next week. If I were a betting man, I’d say we’ll be getting 4K upscaled versions of original Nintendo Switch games, for games such as Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Z-A Legends, but hopefully also older games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
