Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge Is A New Star Wars VR Game For Oculus Quest

Revealed via the Star Wars website overnight, Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge is a brand-new VR experience developed by ILMxLAB, the acclaimed developer behind the Vader Immortal series. The game is set to be exclusive for Oculus Quest, though it’s fair to say the newly-released Oculus Quest 2 is going to be the best way to play the new title.

The game, first announced back in May, acts as a standalone story in the Star Wars canon set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker. It’ll feature an original story, though players can expect to have encounters with classic characters such as C-3PO, R2-D2, and Yoda, voiced by Frank Oz.

For those who can’t see themselves ever getting to the famed Galaxy’s Edge theme park at Disneyland Resort, this game is tailored around what patrons can expect from that experience and is the best way to get a glimpse at it without having to push through the gates.

The game’s director Jose Perez III told IGN that the game would be anthological and that it would take place across multiple eras within the Star Wars universe. It was also said that the first episode would place you in the role of a Droid Repair Technician who’d get into shootouts when not visiting the local cantina or performing repairs. As mentioned earlier, Frank Oz is reprising his role as Yoda, who’ll appear in a standalone tale in a tutor role at a Jedi Temple.

Vader Immortal was an impressive series that put players right at the centre of the Star Wars universe, so we’re expecting Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge will deliver another dose of wish fulfilment for fans.

Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge releases on the Oculus Quest family of headsets on November 19.
