That “Offensive” Aussie Overwatch Sign Has Been Fixed

After Blizzard revealed Junkertown, a brand new Overwatch map set in Australia, Aussies were up in arms about something really unusual.

One of the restaurants was labeled a ‘Take Out’ restaurant, which is an American term that is better known in Australia as ‘Take Away’. Aussies were unhappy, as obviously this is not a term that we’d ever use and therefore is not true to the fictional Australia that this map is trying to portray.

The outrage was so bad that Jeff Kaplan had to offer an apology to Aussies.

“I’d like to offer a direct apology to the entire country of Australia. Please forgive our cultural insensitivity. We will fix this in an upcoming patch (the sign travesty will most likely go live for some period before being fixed).

I’ve also been told by Muselk that our coffees are too large as well. We’re learning… trying, over here…”

Well, it looks like Blizzard have been able to fix before the map even went fully live. It now reads ‘Take Away’ as it should have to begin with.

In all seriousness, this map looks rad and I can’t wait to play it.
