It has been revealed that the Spyro The Dragon: Reginited Trilogy will bizarrely only have the first game on the disc.
Spotted on the game’s website in the fine print, it clearly says that ‘Games 2 and 3 require download via internet’ meaning that Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon will need to be downloaded before you can play them. It isn’t clear how big they’ll be in size, but one can only imagine they won’t be small.
Activision confirmed to Comicbook.com:
“The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21; and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day. As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.”
It’s likely that Toys for Bob are working hard to finalise Spyro 2 and 3 and won’t be able to get them finished in time to print them onto the disc. It’s not uncommon for content to be left off the disc in this day and age, but for a game like Spyro, where so many casual gamers will be purchasing, it is a little be shocking.
All in all, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy is looking pretty damn good, so it’s definitely admirable that Toys for Bob would rather get the game right, rather than release a sub-par product on the actual disc.
Spyro The Dragon: Reignited Trilogy releases on September 21st for PS4 and Xbox One.
