Mortal Kombat 11 Trailer Confirms Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel and Spawn As DLC Fighters

Netherrealm Studios broke their deafening silence this morning by revealing the first four of the fighters to come to the first Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 11. The new fighters were announced off the back of a Shang Tsung gameplay trailer, which reveals the shape-shifting sorceror’s rather nostalgia filled moveset. Check out the trailer below!

Shang Tsung himself will be played by Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who portrayed the character in the 1995 film. He fights using his typical moves  – including skull fireballs and the ability to morph into his opponent. What’s interesting, however, is that Shang Tsung can also use the souls of those he has claimed in the story to battle.

In the trailer, you can see him conjuring the souls of Smoke, Ermac, Reptile and Rain to pull off their special attacks. He even summons the souls of the original Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Noob Saibot to carry out his fatal blow. Kintaro, the sub-boss from Mortal Kombat 2, even makes an appearance in his fatality.

At the end of the trailer, it was also confirmed that Nightwolf, Sindel and Spawn would be coming to the first Kombat Pack along with two yet-to-be-named guests. Nightwolf and Sindel have not appeared in a Mortal Kombat game since 2011’s Mortal Kombat reboot, while Spawn (who is a guest character from his own comic book series) hasn’t appeared in a fighting game since 2003’s Soulcalibur II.

Shang Tsung will be available to Kombat Pack owners from June 18th, while the general public can buy him a week later. The Kombat Pack has also been updated and will include 19 additional skins, though those haven’t been named yet.
