Gears of War was one of the most prominent Xbox exclusives during the Xbox 360 era, but footage of Gears of War 3 has appeared with the game running on a PS3 debug kit.
The footage lasts eight hours and shows off what definitely appears to be a test version of the game (it’s definitely not looking as great as it was at the final release on 360). It’s complete with Xbox button prompts, but a screenshot obtained by Kotaku confirms that the game was in-fact running on a PS3 debug unit.
Many were doubting the footage online earlier today, with Gears Creator CliffyB saying it was “100% fake”, but Epic games has now confirmed to Kotaku that this build is real and was used as part of a test tech along with Unreal Tournament. This isn’t the first time that footage of Gears 3 running on a PS3 debug unit has appeared on the internet, but this is the first time that we’ve had confirmation that it’s real.
