Wasting no time this morning, Sony and Square Enix announced Final Fantasy XVI. Perhaps owing to the fact it’s some time away, the footage shown was running on a “PC emulating the PS5 experience”.
The game looks to have combat similar to Final Fantasy XV, and shows people at war against god type creatures who any Final Fantasy fans will recognise – including Shiva, presumably Ifrit and Phoenix.

No date was announced, but it was announced as a Playstation console exclusive title.
