Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Lets You Wield A Keyblade

Like previous titles in the series, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart has a range of hidden collectibles to find on each of its varied planets. Gold Bolts are back in this latest entry, and collecting them unlocks a growing list of in-game bonuses and ‘cheats’ that allow you to mess with the game in entertaining ways.

Collecting a decent chunk of the 25 total bolts grants some chuckle-worthy unlockables like big/tiny head mode and toggles that makes enemies heads explode with confetti or sends them flying into the distance when defeated with a melee attack. Nabbing all of them will see you decked out with options for infinite ammo or health, which is pretty powerful stuff. But it’s the middle of the road, after about 12-13 Gold Bolts collected, that you’re given the option two swap out Ratchet’s wrench or Rivet’s hammer with a selection of weapon skins.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Yep, that’s a Keyblade.

In fairness, the key model used here does show up as an actual key in other parts of the game (notably as part of a random Pirates of the Caribbean easter egg). There are clearly some Kingdom Hearts fans over at Insomniac that put two and two together though and gave our intergalactic adventurers the opportunity to channel some heroes from a dimension very, very far from theirs.

There are plenty more easter eggs to find in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, including some visitors from other Insomniac and PlayStation Studios characters. If you’ve picked the game up today perhaps you’ll find more!

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is out now exclusively for PS5. The cheapest price is currently $98 on Amazon.
