The Reasons Why Blue Box’s Abandoned Could Actually Be A Hideo Kojima Silent Hill Game

This is something that keeps getting wilder and wilder. A PS5 exclusive horror game called Abandoned was announced on the PlayStation Blog a couple of months ago by a company called Blue Box Game Studios based in the Netherlands. Ever since the game was announced fans have been convinced that this is actually a Kojima Productions Silent Hill game.

At this point it’s undeniable that everything that has been apart of this campaign has been leading to the reveal of a Kojima Silent Hills game or the developers have been very clever in what they’re doing, so it’s either going to end in tears or applause. One thing that leads me to believe it’s the former is the fact that the game was announced on the PlayStation Blog (not something that a lot of games get the opportunity to do). Either way, it’s been a damn fun time following it and it’s going to be fun to watch it unfold either way.

Let’s look at the reasons why this could be Kojima Productions game (Silent Hill or not):

KOJIMA IS KNOWN FOR PULLING THIS TYPE OF THING

Kojima loves to create a spectacle of his game announcements. None were larger than Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain which was originally announced as The Phantom Pain by a company called Moby Dick studio with the head of the company being called Joakim Mogren. Kojima went as far as doing fake interviews and creating an entirely fake character before revealing this was actually a Metal Gear Solid game. He also did the same with PT trying to lure people away from the fact that it was him developing it to begin with.

THE HEAD OF THE STUDIO’S NAME

The head of the studio is named Hasan Kahraman. This is the only person at the studio we know the name of and there’s almost no existence of him outside of a newly created LinkedIN page. When you start to look at the name a little bit further you’ll realise that he shares the same initials as Hideo Kojima, but it’s when you literally do a Google translate from Japanese to Turkish that things get spooky. When you pop in Hideo in Japanese you get Kahraman as the Turkish Translation.

THE STUDIO BRANDING

This is one of the more obvious ones. Firstly, there’s not a lot on the studio which has apparently existed since 2015, but once you start looking at the name, “Blue Box Game Studios” you’ll realise that the design of the logo is literally identical to that of the PlayStation Studios logo, and also, which console manufacture’s logo has a blue box? (the logo actually glows blue in the new PS Studio intro). The fonts of the two logos are also identical, and I’m not sure why Blue Box would be called “Game Studios” when it’s just a singular studio. The logo of Blue Box is also just the PlayStation Studios logo inverted.

When you head to the studio’s Twitter page, things get even more telling. The studio has been abbreviated with BBGameStudios. Kojima’s last game Death Stranding was based around a baby that was referred to as BB.

NETHERLANDS IS THE LOCATION OF THE STUDIO

If the studio was based in the Netherlands, that would be a pretty telling sign that it’s not a Kojima game, right? Actually, this is also explainable. Kojima Productions announced five years ago that it was launching a small satellite studio in Amsterdam alongside Guerrilla Games. We haven’t really heard a peep from this studio ever since it was announced.

KOJIMA’S TWEET

Kojima would have to know full well what’s happening at the moment and whether he’s adding fuel to the fire or further teasing, he recently Tweeted out some books one of which was called “The SILENT Wife” and the other  being written by an author called “Joe HILL”.

THE FORMER GAME

One of the only former games listed for the developer is a mobile game that has the description Personal Training ( PT ) Programs. This bares big significant as Kojima famously created the PT: Silent Hills demo. Even if this were a real app, it seems extremely odd to go from making a personal training application to a PS5 exclusive horror game.

THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL

The YouTube channel was apparently created in 2015, but nothing has ever been posted. The header of the YouTube channel is of hills that have been covered in fog. Do I really even need to go into this one?

THE REVEAL TRAILER HIDES THE LETTERS P.T.

At 49 seconds into the reveal trailer, the letters P and T are hidden behind the trees.

GEOFF KEIGHLEY IS INVOLVED

As early as this morning, Geoff Keighley popped up into the Resetera thread about the game to say he had received a DM from Kahraman. He was trying to shut the rumours down in a round-a-bout way, posting a DM that didn’t have a date on it, claiming that he received it some months ago and took a screenshot. This could possibly shut the theories down, but also Geoff and Hideo are best mates, so no doubt he’d be assisting with trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes.

Jason Schreier is also starting to buy into the rumours.

THE MGS SOUND TRACK

The game has another cancelled game called Lost Tapes which is the name of one of the songs from the Metal Gear Solid soundtrack.

THERE’S LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF OTHER REASONS

There are so many other reasons why this could turn out to be true, and you can find them all at this Reddit thread HERE. Again, this could be a very clever studio that is riding this wave, but I’d have to think at this point, they’ve gone way too far down the rabbit hole for that.

The studio has said that the game will be revealed on June 22nd with its own PS5 app (no idea what that means) so this is either going to go downhill very quickly, or we’re on the cusp of something really exciting.
