Paradox Interactive has announced that it’s revised the release plans for its upcoming city-building sequel, Cities: Skylines 2, including updated what it had originally listed as the minimum and recommended specs for PC users ahead of its October 24th launch, and the announcement that the console versions of the game have been pushed back by quite a few months.
According to the update posted on the official Paradox forum, Cities: Skylines 2 on PS5 and Xbox Series X is now not expected to launch until “Autumn 2024,” which is anywhere from 4-6 months extra wait for console players. The studio is also proactively refunding digital pre-orders for the console versions of the game, and advising those with physical pre-orders to seek a refund from their retailer if they wish, despite the console release still very much in the pipeline.
As far as the PC version goes, an updated set of minimum and recommended specs shows that Paradox has underestimated the system requirements during development, saying “Cities: Skylines II is a next-generation title and therefore has certain hardware requirements. The recommended specs were set when the game was still in development. After having done extensive testing with different hardware we made the decision to update the minimum/recommended specs for a better player experience.”
As such, potential players may have to double-check their system still meets the required spec. The new minimums and recommendations are below:
