Gran Turismo 7’s Huge New Update Adds 4-Player Split Screen Races And A New AI

Massive!

PlayStation and Polyphony Digital have just launched one of the biggest updates yet to last year’s premier racing simulator, Gran Turismo 7, bringing with it new cars, a new circuit, new challenges and features, the integration of the long-in-testing racing AI, Gran Turismo Sophy, and the addition of local, split screen multiplayer for four players.

The free Gran Turismo 7 SPEC II Update 1.40 is available right now and includes:

  • 7 new cars – including the highly anticipated Lexus LFA and Tesla Model 3
  • New circuit – Lake Louise Snow Circuit
  • 3 Café / Extra Menus
  • Update to World Circuits
  • Gran Turismo Sophy (AI Driver Agent) with Quick Race (PS5 Only)
  • 50 Challenges added to Licenses
  • Paddock added to Multiplayer Menu
  • 4-Player Split Screen Races (PS5 Only)
  • Features added to Photos / Scapes
  • Updated GT Menu / Dashboard
  • New opening movie

Those playing on PS5 exclusively will now have access to the cutting-edge Gran Turismo Sophy 2.0 AI-driven opponents in Quick Race (formerly known as Arcade Race), or can continue to race against the existing AI opponents.

There have also been a number of updates made to the game’s menus and dashboards, including overall displays of player info as well as revamped multiplayer lobbies and new photography features and spots for the Scapes mode.

You can read all about everything added in the update in greater detail on the PlayStation Blog.

We gave Gran Turismo 7 a 9/10 in our original review, saying “Gran Turismo 7 is a car-lover’s dream. Whether you love cars already or have just started your journey into being a car person, GT7 wants to welcome you to the community with open arms, get you up to speed and give you everything it can to help you enjoy cars in whatever ways it’s able.”
