Astro Bot’s Game Length Has Been Revealed In A New Interview

Sounds just right!

For those wondering how long PlayStation’s next big upcoming title, Astro Bot, will take to complete, a new interview with creative director and president of Team Asobi, Nicolat Doucet, has yielded some interesting new facts about the game.

The interview comes via French YouTube Julien Chièze, and was later shared by user “Remember_Spinal” on IconEra with a breakdown of what was discussed in English.

One of the key takeaways is the game’s length, with Doucet estimating that it’ll take players around 12-15 hours to complete – about the same as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The director and producer reportedly told Chièze that the team wanted a game where the tempo is consistent across the whole experience, and where each level is of the same quality as opposed to stretching things out for a longer total runtime. Asobi would rather a short game than one that feels repetitive, in other words.

Elsewhere in the interview, we also learn that the studio set up a dedicated team just for exploring the possibilities of the DualSense controller, completely overhauled the engine from Astro’s Playrooom, and that Asobi is prepared to keep updating Astro’s Playroom with new unlockable PS5 hardware if the company releases more. I recently went hands-on with Astro Bot and had a ripper of a time, writing, “I couldn’t show you even 30 seconds during my time with Astro Bot that didn’t feature something new and exciting for me to see or do. It’s a celebration of what makes 3D platformers so compelling as much as it is a celebration of all things PlayStation, and powered by the platform’s new de facto mascot it’s entirely emblematic of the sheer wonder to be found in video games. If the final product has me grinning and cheering even half as consistently as these handful of stages did, it’ll be tough for anything to beat Astro Bot out as the most joyful game of the year.”

And if you’re invested in the current ARG-esque updates and riddles in Astro’s Playroom in the lead up to the new game, we’ve got all the answers here.
