Moore’s Law Is Dead, a YouTuber who has previously revealed information about PlayStation Hardware before it has been announced has dropped info on the upcoming PS6 range which is expected to launch in 2027.
It’s said that alongside the more traditional, more powerful version of the PS6, the company is also working on a portable PS6 that has more power than the base PS5 when docked and will work like the Nintendo Switch in the sense that it can be used as a handheld but then connected to your TV for higher fidelity gaming.
It’s presumed that it will be able to play PS6 games natively, so that you can go between a more powerful home console experience, or a portable experience that can also be docked (and run games at a later resolution).
According to the leak, the PlayStation 6 Portable will feature an AMD APU featuring four Zen 6C cores and two more cores dedicated to system tasks. The PS6 itself is said to feature a 16x RDNA 5 CU GPU clocked at 1.2ghz in handheld mode and 1.65hz when docked.
It’s expected (although anything could change with how the world is at present), that the handheld could cost $500 USD (~$760 AUD) and will release in late 2027 which would be seven years since the launch of the PS5.
