Horizon Hunters Gathering Is Getting A Big Overhaul After Poor Player Feedback

Gathering, they weren't!

Announced back in February of this year, Horizon Hunters Gathering was billed as a tactical co-op action game set in the world of Horizon and included live-service elements, to remain in step with PlayStation’s ill-fated live-service push.

The game went quiet for a bit before entering a stint of internal playtesting, as well as a closed beta. According to a new report by Bloomberg, the game has not been received well at all during these closed tests and plans have since been put in place to overhaul the title, lessen its scope, and strip it of its live-service elements.

Bloomberg’s report states that although the game hasn’t been cancelled, the team were given until December to work on it and justify to PlayStation executives that it should remain in development. The team will also continue to be evaluated as several workers are moved onto another project.

It continues a less than ideal run for PlayStation’s live-service strategy, which has seen the cancellation of both The Last of Us Online and a once in-development Spider-Man online title, as well as the disastrous launch and eventual demise of Concord.
