Amazon just hosted its hardware launch event for the season, where it announced a heap of new tech mostly focused on updates of its existing devices. While not all of them look to be launching locally (unfortunate, in the case of the impressive-looking QLED Fire TV Omni televisions), we’ve put together a handy breakdown of what’s available starting now on Amazon.com.au.
Kindle Scribe
The Kindle Scribe is an all-new entry into the e-reader family that features a 10.2″ 300ppi Paperwhite display that can be used for more than just reading e-books. The Scribe also comes with a pen that can be used to take notes directly on the screen, either within books themselves or to create notebooks, journals and lists and store them on the device or export to Word/PDF.
If you’re an avid e-reader and like the idea of a natural-feeling writing surface that’s integrated into your Kindle, this device looks mighty impressive.

- Kindle Scribe 16GB w/Basic Pen – $599

Fire TV Cube
The Fire TV Cube is the latest high-end device in Amazon’s range of streaming media players. This one’s the fastest ever, packing an octa-core processor and Wi-Fi 6E/ethernet networking to ensure smooth 4K streaming. It supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and even has a HDMI in to plug in a console or other device to be controlled using the Fire TV Cube’s onboard Amazon Alexa voice control.
Echo Show 15 (now with Fire TV)
The Echo Show 15 is a full HD, 15.6″ smart display powered by Alexa that looks just like a picture frame but packs the smarts to help you organise your day, access recipes, watch TV and VOD content, listen to music, view security camera feeds and (naturally) view pictures all with the help of the Alexa voice assistant and the touch screen. It’s easily wall-mountable and works in either landscape or portrait mode, and can also be placed on the optional Tilt Stand for desk or bench placement.
Alongside the Echo Show 15, Amazon is adding Fire TV and other Alexa updates to other devices in the Echo range.

Echo Studio
The Echo Studio is Amazon’s “best-sounding” smart speaker ever, with five internal speakers producing deep and nuanced audio with Dolby Atmos spacial sound technology. The Echo Studio automatically determines room acoustics and adapts its sound automatically and works with other Alexa/Zigbee products to fully integrate into your smart home solution.
