Platinum Games Has Made A Statement On The Cancellation Of Scalebound

Yesterday, it was announced that Xbox One exclusive, Scalebound was cancelled. No real reason was given and Microsoft clearly tried to remove any trace of the game existing.

Today, Platinum Games as well as the studio’s Senior Designer, Hideki Kamiya have spoken.

We wish the studio the best, and hope that they don’t let the cancellation keep them down for too long.

“We’re sorry to say that on January 9, 2017, Microsoft Studios announced the cancellation of Scalebound. We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.

Going forward, we will strive to continue delivering high-quality games to you, starting with NieR:Automata in March, and including products like GRANBLUE FANTASY Project Re:Link and LOST ORDER in the future.

We will keep working hard to meet your expectations and we look forward to your continued support!

President and CEO

  • A display of sympathy and sincerity that is not seen on Microsoft's behalf. Phil Spencer's solution is one of avoidance and distraction: new candy red wireless controllers and new backwards compatibility announcements to pummel the much deeper issue into a spring loaded closet. Let's never forget how Spencer addressed the cancellation:

"Difficult decision, we believe result is better 4 Xbox gamers, still disappointing. Im confident in 17 lineup thats our focus"

Gotta love that deliberate poor grammar to fit in with the young and savvy. Oh, and such a good result for gamers indeed!
