According to multiple sources, the new evolution items in Pokemon GO can now be obtained at PokeStops. There are five types which you’ll need to evolve certain Gen 1 Pokemon into their Gen 2 evolutions.
- Dragon Scale: Evolves Seadra into Kingdra
- King’s Rock: Evolves Poliwhirl into Politoed / Slowpoke into Slowking
- Metal Coat: Onix into Steelix / Scyther into Scizor
- Sun Stone: Gloom into Bellossom / Sunkern into Sunflora
- Upgrade: Porygon into Porygon2
You’ll need a certain amount of candy as well as these items in order to successfully evolve the Pokemon. The item’s drop rates seem to vary greatly.
One user over on Reddit said they had been to 250 Pokestops without getting a single one of these items, whilst the next person said that they obtained an item on their first spin.
There’s also two brand new berries in the form of Nanab and Pinap. Nanab slows down Pokemon to make them easier to catch whilst Pinap doubles the amount of candy caught.
So the moral of the story is that with another round of Pokemon GO items, it’s once against really unclear just how easy it is to get the said items.
