Wii U Production Will End This Week

Eurogamer is reporting that Wii U production will finally end this Friday. Nintendo’s production line in Japan will shut down this week after the final order allocation was provided yesterday.

To compare the Wii U against other Nintendo consoles, the Wii U has sold 13.4 Wii U consoles with the GameCube selling 21m, Nintendo 64 selling 32m and the Wii selling 101m. It’s likely that the Wii U will go down as the lowest selling mainstream Nintendo console.

Nintendo forecasts that they’ll sell another 800k Wii U units before it’s all said and done.

Nintendo will fully reveal the Nintendo Switch on January 13th of next year.

Thanks, Eurogamer.
