It looks like a sequel to 2021’s third-person survival shooter set in the Aliens universe, Aliens: Fireteam Elite, could be on the way. Reports of the title have appeared following a supposed 1.1TiB of Disney’s data being compromised, with a hack that reportedly involved the information being stolen via the company’s Slack channels.

After a hacking group claimed to have stolen the data over the past days, bits and pieces have slowly been making their way to social media, allegedly including things like upcoming, unannounced collaborations with Fortnite. While, much like that huge Insomniac leak last year, we’ll opt not to actively report on anything that could include sensitive or personal information or perpetuate the dissemination of stolen information, the supposed new Aliens game has already become heavily reported on across a number of outlets.

As per Eurogamer, the game looks to be a sequel to the original Fireteam Elite, codenamed “Project Macondo,” and is slated to launch in Q3 2025. Information on the game, reportedly taken from a presentation dated back to 2021 – suggesting work began on the follow-up around the same time the first game launched – claims that Project Macondo will “improve upon the mechanics, atmosphere, and excitement” of Fireteam Elite.

“Fight through an epic new story campaign with a squad of two AI companions or live players,” the presentation reportedly reads.

“Play as members of Dagger Company, a battalion of spec-op Xenomorph hunters, each with unique abilities and weapons. Engage in a diverse array of gameplay scenarios, including NPC interactions, alternate paths, navigational challenges, and clue finding.”

We gave the original Aliens: Fireteam Elite an unfortunate 5/10 in our review in 2021, with Ewan saying, “Aliens: Fireteam Elite is a disappointment. Even as an avid fan of the franchise, the fun to be had here is limited. Misguided design, hamstrung presentation and painfully repetitive gameplay suck the fun out of what is, on paper, a promising game. I’d love to have had a meaty, cooperative survival game to play with friends, an escalating challenge that gradually expected more of me as a player, with a story more than just serviceable in moving from one mission to the next. This time, I’m only screaming in frustration.”
