A Rise Of The Ronin Demo Is Available Now On PS5

Not enough of you collected cats, clearly.

Rise of the Ronin was one of this year’s earliest PlayStation exclusives and a bold new effort from Nioh and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty developer, Team Ninja, and if you’ve managed to hold off from playing it before now and still hold some curiosity – I’ve got good news. A free demo for the game has just arrived on the PlayStation Store, so you can finally try it out for yourself and see if it’s your vibe.

The demo, which can be found right here, allows players to try out roughly the first chapter of the game, up until a pivotal fight where players will be asked to make one of the game’s first major choices. It’s a decent chunk of content to try out, enough to get a feel for how the game plays and what to expect from its narrative, and once you’re done you’ll be able to take your progress straight through to the full game.

The news of the demo came via a post on the PlayStation Blog which divulges some interesting statistics based on those who’ve already picked up the game, showing at a glance some of the splits for story decisions along with some player milestones. 65% of players spared Gonzo, for example, which is the same choice you’ll find in the demo, while 30% of players engaged in romance and an incredibly-disappointing 16% of players collected 100 cats. You can find the rest here or check out a video version below:

We gave Rise of the Ronin a healthy 7/10 in our review, with Harry saying, “While still an apt Souls-like experience, Rise of the Ronin struggles to find its identity amongst Team Ninja’s catalogue. It feels like it’s being pulled in different directions, and starts to collapse under its own ambition in the third act. In saying this, the DNA of Nioh and Wo Long is palpable here, and I have no doubt that fans of Team Ninja will enjoy this first foray into open world design despite its shortcomings.”
