In another coup for local games development, it’s been revealed by inXile’s studio head Brian Fargo that Australia’s own Krome Studios, known best for their Ty the Tasmanian Tiger series, would be spearheading the remaster for Wasteland.
It was announced a few months ago that the remaster would be coming to PC, but as apart of the same conversation thread, Fargo has confirmed that the release is also coming to Xbox One. This move is likely thanks to Microsoft’s timely acquisition of the studio last year.
Wasteland originally released in 1988 and is considered the godfather of post-apocalyptic role-playing games having influenced the likes of Fallout.
The Wasteland 1 remaster is still coming later this year for Windows but a little surprise is that we are also going to bring it to Xbox!

The same talented team at @kromestudios who remastered the Bard’s Tale Trilogy is also handling the Wasteland remaster.

There’s nothing in Brian Fargo’s tweets to suggest the remaster is anywhere near release yet, but the in-progress screen sure paints a picture of how vast this remaster might be.
With any luck, we’ll hear more about Wasteland’s re-release at either X019 in November or even on one of Major Nelson’s Inside Xbox episodes.
