8 PS4 Games To Be Extremely Excited About In 2016

Ratchet & Clank is an upcoming platformer being developed exclusively for PS4 by Insomniac Games. It is a re-imagining of the original game which was released on PS2. The story is based on the upcoming 2015 film by Blockade Entertainment and Rainmaker Entertainment. Whilst the game is a re-imagining of the first game of the series, it will have a variety of different gameplay features such as the inclusion of strafing. It will also introduce new weapons and gadgets. It is due for release on April 12th. Ratchet & Clank is one of my favourite series of all time. I’m extremely excited to see how Insomniac can re-invent the series.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is the latest action-adventure shooter from Naughty Dog. It is the final entry in the Nathan Drake story and is being developed exclusively for PlayStation 4. It is set three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception and will feature fan favourites such as Elena as well as newcomers such as Drake’s brother Sam. Uncharted 4 will take the series in a more non-linear direction. It will also once again feature multiplayer. It is due for release on April 29th. I’m excited to see how Uncharted 4 concludes the story of Nathan Drake. I’m glad that they’re finally going in a new direction after this entry.

No Man’s Sky is an upcoming adventure game being developed by small indie studio Hello Games. The aim of the game is to explore a procedurally generated open-universe. The game will release on PS4 and PC in June 2016. Whilst i’m excited about No Man’s Sky, it’s yet to be seen whether the game will have longevity. The game has looked fairly similar each time it’s been shown and whilst the world is procedurally generated, how long can it stay entertaining for?

Whilst technically not a game, PlayStation VR is set to change the way that gamers play games. It includes an OLED display that has a resolution of 1920×1080 and is capable of displaying content at 120FPS. It features head tracking, a complete field of view and stereoscopic 3D. There are already some key games announced to be supporting the accessory such as Gran Turismo Sport, Harmonix Music VR, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood & Rigs. I’m extremely excited to see what publishers achieve with PlayStation VR. I think that the price will really make or break it’s success. It is currently due for release in the first half of 2016 but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it slip a little later.

Horizon Zero Dawn is an upcoming PS4 exclusive in development by Guerilla Games. In Guerilla’s first action RPG & first new IP since Killzone, players will take control of Aloy as she progresses through post-apocalyptic land which is ruled by mechs. After winning numerous ‘Best of E3’ awards last year, Horizon: Zero Dawn quickly established itself as one of gamers most anticipated games of 2016. It is due for release in Holiday 2016.

After being hinted at as ‘Team Gravity Project’ in late 2013, Sony finally revealed Gravity Rush 2 at TGS in 2015. It is being developed by Team Gravity & Japan Studio. Gravity rush was an amazing game that went largely unnoticed due to the underwhelming success of the PlayStation Vita. Gravity Rush 2 seems to feature similar open-world gameplay that is based on the different forms on gravity. It should prove to be a familiar experience which may be a good or bad thing depending on how much time you put into the original. It’s also worth noting that Gravity Rush Remastered will hit our shores in early 2016.

After making one of the first PS3 exclusive games in Heavenly Sword, Ninja Theory are back with Hellblade. Being developed for the Playstation 4, the game once again features a female main character in the form of Senua. She embarks on the journey through the hellish world based on her own reality and mind. Whilst not much is known about the game as of yet, I was a massive fan of both Heavenly Sword and Enslaved which both told incredibly powerful stories. The game is presumable set for release in Holiday 2016.

Gran Turismo Sport is being developed by Polyphony Digital exclusively for the PS4. The game is a seperate entry into the Gran Turismo franchise and will be the thirteenth game overall in the Gran Turismo series. The game will allegedly feature three games mode in Campaign, Sport Mode and Arcade Mode. Gran Turismo Sport will feature more content than the previously released Prologue titles. I’m excited to see how the game shapes up. Gran Turismo is an amazing series but it’s extremely realistic gameplay definitely isn’t for everyone.
