Everything Announced At The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase

A massive showcase!

THQ Nordic ran a mammoth 45-minute digital showcase this morning highlighting over 20 upcoming titles including some exciting, brand new announcements.

You can catch up on the entire show here, but we’ve also put together a rundown below so you can see everything at a glance and skip to the best stuff (ie, SpongeBob SquarePants):

HandyGames Presents

First up was a highlight reel from developer and publisher HandyGames showcasing some of their recent and future titles including Endling: Extinction is Forever, De-Exit: Eternal Matters, Airhead, Perish, A Rat’s Quest, Lethal Honor: Order of the Apocalypse and a mobile port of Wreckfest.

A Rat’s Quest looks particularly cool as a pint-sized third person adventure/platformer starring, well, a rat.

Alone in the Dark

It’s unfortunate that the game and some screenshots leaked ahead of THQ Nordic’s show, but yep – we’re getting a new Alone in the Dark. This series helped pioneer quite a few horror video game concepts if you’ll believe the right people. This new entry is a “loving reimagination” set in a manor in the gothic American South with two playable characters.

No release date was announced but the game is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Destroy All Humans! 2: Reprobed

Another look at the upcoming remake of Destroy All Humans! 2, showing off a look at its frantic and action-packed invader gameplay. This one’s out very soon on August 30 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Space for Sale

A new announcement of a hyper-adorable space sim where you, a tiny astronaut, purchase your very own solar system and build homes for alien clients on exotic and dangerous planets. Never mind that you’re basically playing an intergalactic landlord, this one looks neat.

Space for Sale is coming to PC “soon”.

Gothic Remake

A brand new, in-engine trailer for the remake of the original Gothic. Time will tell how well the ageing action RPG will be re-interpreted for a new generation but it certainly looks nice.

Gothic Remake is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Jagged Alliance 3

A new trailer for the next in the strategic, turn-based series. This new trailer presents a bit of story context for the game, which sees you hire a team of unique mercenaries to rescue the president of Grand Chien, who was kidnapped by a paramilitary force known as “The Legion”. There’s a bunch of gameplay footage as well showing off the tactical combat and weapon and character customisation.

Jagged Alliance 3 is coming soon to PC.

The Valiant

The Valiant is an RTS set across Europe during the Fifth Crusade, featuring a bloody campaign as well as both co-op and competitive multiplayer.

Coming to PC soon.

Tempest Rising

Another classic RTS, this time set in an alternative history war scenario. Three factions vie for a new and powerful substance called Tempest, and it’s up to players which faction they choose. Very old-school RTS vibes but with a modern look, this one’s coming to PC next year.

Knights of Honor II: Sovereign

Fight for control of Europe in this medieval grand strategy game. You’ll both need to rule and determine the destiny of your people as well as engage in action-packed RTS combat.

Coming to PC soon.

Outcast 2: A New Beginning

A new look at the sequel 20 years in the making, Outcast 2 – A New Beginning is an action-packed open world adventure full of unique aliens to meet (and shoot). Cutter Slade is back, baby!

Coming soon to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Wreckreation

A particularly exciting new announcement – the team behind Dangerous Driving and Dangerous Golf is back with another wreck-tastic racing game. This time it’s a 400-square-kilometre sandbox where you and your friends can create huge and impossible racing playgrounds to get absolutely smashed to bits on. It’s like Trackmania meets Burnout and I can’t wait.

Wreckreation is coming to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.

Way of the Hunter

A new look at what seems like the most in-depth and high production hunting game yet. Explore gorgeous habitats, discover beautiful and rare wildlife, and then shoot it in the face to help your struggling family business.

Way of the Hunter is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S next week on August 16, 2022.

AEW: Fight Forever

I’m no wrestling fan, but people seem pretty keen on this. The title “Fight Forever” implies that it’s some kind of endless runner/wrestling combo but apparently that’s just a title – this looks like proper wrestling. Also there are wacky minigames! Also the trailer makes me want pizza?

AEW: Fight Forever is coming soon to PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Switch.

Stuntfest: World Tour

Stuntfest looks like a mix of Ubisoft’s Riders Republic, Forza Horizon’s Hot Wheels expansion and Destruction Derby. That’s a winning combo if you ask me. There’s a free playtest happening this weekend as well, so get around it!

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake

SpongeBob SquarePants is back! After remaking the beloved Battle for Bikini Bottom, Purple Lamp Studios is back with an all-new SpongeBob platforming adventure. It looks every bit as charming as the last one, but this time the platforming gameplay should feel less held back by the past. It looks gorgeous, too.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is coming soon to PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

South Park

THQ Nordic had one final, quick tease up their sleeves before signing off, and it’s one I’m sure most of us didn’t see coming. Yep, a brand-new South Park game is in development at “South Park Digital Studios”. Exciting stuff!
